This week, I was thinking about a verse in the Bible that most people know: "Three things will last forever - faith, hope, and love - and the greatest of these is love" (1 Cor 13:13). If love is the greatest, why does God say that without faith, it is impossible to please God (Heb 11:16)? But we find in 1 John 4:8 that "God is love." So we could also insert the word "God" in each place this chapter speaks of "love". And without God, there can be no faith or hope. Verses 9 and 10 show that love is outgoing not inward seeking. Just as God is light, love shines out and " the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit which is given unto us", meaning God's love is to shine through us to others.   I found this lovely song at the weekend. I feel it takes its theme from John 14:21 "He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.” To manifest (emphanizō) is to reveal, appear, come into view and make known. We know from Scripture that the Spirit within the man Jesus was that of Yahweh, the almighty God and our Father. He was and is the God who spoke to Abraham and released Israel from the bonds of Egypt. He now brings salvation and will soon return as Jesus to rule this world as King. But when we accept Him now as our King in our daily lives and follow His commandments to put Him first above ourselves and our desires and love others as He loves them, He manifests and appears in our lives as our salvation. JFK had it right when he said “Ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country.” The life of the true Christian is one of service to others and putting the care of others before ourselves (1 Cor 10:24). God blesses people so that they may bless others. But we must also know that giving is better than receiving. Why? Because when we give of ourselves WITHOUT expectations of receiving anything in return (Phil 2:3-4), our Father blesses us greatly when we have faith that He will supply all our needs plus more to continue helping others (2 Corinthians 9:8). Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. So many religions teach wrongly that we are to "do good" so we can "go to heaven". Nowhere in the Bible does it actually say this. There is not one verse that says we are to "go to heaven". "No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven - the Son of Man," Jesus told us in John 3:13. In fact, heaven is going to come to Earth! "May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven." Matt 6:10. Heaven is where God's throne is.  Yes, there is a "paradise" that those people who have died "in Christ" are to be but our final destination is Earth united with God's Heaven - the restoration of the Kingdom. Repent and make Jesus the King of your life so that you may be part of His Kingdom now and when He returns. What we have to look forward to is the resurrection or changing into a new spiritual body at the return of Jesus and the merging of heaven with earth.

 The people celebrating "pride" week or month fall into one of two categories especially as the pride they speak of is in their choice to lust after unnatural desires. We pray the Holy Spirit guides them off this path. Pride is all about self-centredness. At one end of pride, we have arrogance and think we are better than others or want to be the centre of attention. At the other end is low self-esteem. Yes, if you think you are lower than everyone else, you are still self-focused.  By pride comes nothing but strife (Prov 13:10). There is no room for pride in the heart of real love as love is not proud (1 Cori 13:4) and God is love (1 John 4:7-8). Therefore there is no room for God in pride as pride centres on self, not Him. And believe God's Word when He says He hates the type of pride being promoted using a perverted version of His symbol of the rainbow. God hates pride and arrogance (Prov 8:13, 16:5) and pride leads to shame and destruction (Prov 11:2). Therefore let u...

  An example of divine exchange only through Jesus: Cast all your cares upon Him and be thankful and He will give you rest in your heart and mind. "Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. Another example often overlooked by "legalistic" churches is that God does not expect us to live a life of poverty and that he will supply for our needs in abundance. 2 Corinthians 8:9 "Although he was rich, he became poor for your sakes, so that you could become rich through his poverty." Some will say that this applies to spiritual life but if you read it in context, the whole chapter is about finances. This is backed up by Philippians 4:19, "My God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ ...

When Jesus was crucified, He was enthroned as our King. Through His wounds, we were healed. He became the curse for us so we can live in the blessings of God. Now is the time of repentance.  Turn from sin and accept Jesus as your sacrifice and only chance of eternal life. No religion will save anyone from eternal death and only through His Name will anyone be reconciled with the Almighty God and enter His Kingdom when our King returns. "But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars - they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.” Revelation 21:8 The warning has been given before and it is given again Ezekiel 3:17-19

Do not let yourself be fooled by religious doctrines or false churches. It is our direct responsibility to give to the poor and needy. In the days of the Old Covenant, tithes were given to the Levitical Priesthood of food and distributed to the needy.  Under the New Covenant, we are no longer to give "tithes" to religious organisations as the days of that Priesthood are over. All disciples of Christ are now a nation of priests and it is our responsibility to give to help the poor and people in need. It is not our responsibility to pay for massive colleges or church buildings.
